As for the recessed, although it’s still manageable, you need to note that there’s a cut-out hole that you must trim. Ensure that you follow that measurement precisely to guarantee that your sensor will sit perfectly against the surface.

There’s no issue if you decide to switch from surface-mounted to recessed. However, you’ll need to patch a hole if you ever want to surface-mount your already recessed sensor.

This LED sensor has a 7cm detection range. You might think it’s very limited, but since it’s a door or swipe-activated sensor, this much distance is acceptable. However, if you’re thinking of other applications, like outdoor motion-sensor, this may not deliver your expectations. You will need a different type of sensor with a broader detection range.
